Ecstatic Dance Montclair flyer with DJ Omar Aena — November 13, 2026, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Come move with us.

Ecstatic dance is a free-form, substance-free movement practice — a space to release what's been held in the body, follow your own rhythm, and come home to yourself. No choreography, no experience, and no judgment. Just you, the music, and a room full of people choosing to feel.

Come up the driveway to the right of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation building and enter through the red doors to find us — 67 Church St, Montclair, NJ 07042.

DJ Omar Aena, founder of Dance Beyond, will spin an eclectic mix of music — building, cresting, and settling — to transport you through a full journey of movement and feeling. Yasmeen Faraj, LCSW will lead a gentle warm-up to help you get out of your head and into your body before the music begins. Our closing ceremony is still being finalized — stay tuned. The People's Herbalist will be with us throughout the evening, pouring herbal elixirs and mocktails to sip as you arrive and land softly afterward. All bodies and all movement styles are welcome.

The Music

DJ Omar Aena weaves an eclectic, soul-stirring mix — world beats, ambient textures, and deep rhythm — to carry you from stillness into release and back home again.

Omar Aena is a cultural storyteller, community weaver, oud player and DJ whose sets are portals between worlds. 🌍🎶 Omar bridges traditional songs of the past with the electronic pulse of the present, weaving live oud into his DJ sets to create an ecstatic soundscape that spans cultures and awakens spirit. Guided by his Middle Eastern heritage and the Sufi path, he curates a journey from slow, grounded rhythms through ecstatic peaks and into the soft stillness that follows. Each set is a living prayer: a dance of liberation, unity and remembrance. Omar's intention is simple yet profound: to create a space where we can move as one body, one breath, one heartbeat. 💫 Founder of Dance Beyond NYC and creator of the LILA Series exploring devotional music around the world, Omar brings decades of experience transforming dance floors into temples of truth.

Somatic Warm-Up Guide · Founder of Kinda Crunchy Therapy

Yasmeen Faraj, LCSW, CIMHP is the founder of Kinda Crunchy Therapy and an integrative, somatically-oriented therapist. Her warm-up is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and meet yourself exactly as you are — softening the noise of the mind and finding your center before the dance begins.

The Warm-Up

A journey down from the mind and into the body. Through breath, grounding, and gentle somatic exploration, we'll begin to soften the noise of the mind and find our center. From there, we'll allow movement to arise organically — meeting all sensations, emotions, impulses, and stillness with curiosity and warmth. There is nothing to perform and nowhere to get to. Just an invitation to listen, feel, and let the body lead.
